What: MidSouth Soaring Championships 2006
When: Friday, June 30th - Sunday, July 2nd
Where: Hays-Kennedy Park, Louisville, KY
The Louisville Area Soaring Society is glad to welcome the 15th Annual MidSouth Soaring Championship back to Louisville. The annual “NATS Warm-up” will be held over three days, Friday June 30th, Saturday July 1st and Sunday, July 2nd. Handlaunch and RES competition on Friday, and two days of Unlimited on Saturday and Sunday.
Schedule
Friday, June 30th
Handlaunch 10AM-3PM, awards for top 3 pilots. $15 entry.
RES 4PM-7PM open-winch, awards for top 3 pilots. $20 entry.
Saturday & Sunday
Two days of unlimited, man-on-man competition. Starting at 9:30AM each day, ending whenever. Three classes: Expert, Sportsman and “Grey Cup” (ages 60+). Awards for top 5 experts, top 3 sportsmen and top 3 “Grey Cup” competitors each day. Overall points over both Saturday and Sunday will receive the Overall Champion award. All classes, $20 entry.
Saturday Evening BBQ Banquet
Saturday Evening, LASS will be hosting a BBQ banquet at the field in the pavilion. $18.
Registration
Download the 2006 Mid-South Soaring Championship Entry Form. Please note that there will be a 3-pilot per frequency rule in effect, and that Channel 24 is off-limits due to interference. Pre-registration must be sent in by June 15th, 2006. Walk-ups are welcome with a $5 fee and they will be subject to frequency availability.

Directions to Hays-Kennedy Park
Hays-Kennedy will be a new field to many, so here are some detailed directions:
From North of Louisville, via I-65
Travel south on I-65 to just across the river in Kentucky
Merge onto I-71 North towards Cincinatti
Take the ZORN AVENUE exit (Exit 2)
Turn LEFT onto ZORN AVENUE
Turn RIGHT on RIVER ROAD
Continue on RIVER ROAD for 6.6 miles
Turn LEFT onto BASS LANE
BASS LANE leads directly into HAYS-KENNEDY PARK
From South of Louisville, via I-65
Travel north on I-65 to just before the river.
Follow “From North of Louisville†directions above, skip line 1
From Cincinnati, via I-71
Take I-71 SOUTH until ZORN AVENUE (Exit #2)
Follow “From North of Louisville†directions above,skip line 1
From East or West of Louisville, via I-64
Take I-64 towards Louisville to I-265 NORTH (KY-841/Gene Snyder Expressway) Exit 19B
Continue on I-265/KY-841 NORTH for 11.6 miles (I-265 will end and KY-841 will continue until US-42)
Take a RIGHT on US-42, continue for 1.5 miles, At a light, take a SHARP LEFT onto RIVER ROAD
After 0.2 miles, take a RIGHT onto BASS LANE, which leads into Hays-Kennedy Park
